Today we say Happy Birthday to Hunter S. Thomson, the man who brought us such titles as Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and The Rum Diary. He's the one that brought us Gonzo Journalism (the kind where you don't claim any objectivity- such as this blog).
So Happy Birthday Mr Thompson. May your works provide knowledge and entertainment for many many many generations to come.
Today is also the day that the world lost Jane Austen at the age of 41 to an unidentified illness. There is a lot of speculation floating around the internet as to what it was that actually brought around our favourite novelists demise, but the truth is we will probably never know.
Jane is buried in the Nave at Winchester Cathedral. So if you're ever there, go and say "Hi", its a lovely cathedral that's worth a look anyway, but if you need extra incentive and you are a literary nerd, here's your reason.
